A Trip to Venice of The East: Udaipur

New year equals new experiences, or at least that is how it should be. As you guys already know, we take the above phrase a little too seriously, so allow us to take you back to 2016.

1st January 2016, the train was waiting for us at the Sarai Rohilla railway station, Delhi. We hopped on and in twelve hours, we were in Udaipur: the city of lakes.

Sunsets and chill.

You can book your ride through the link below

Day 1

We found ourselves a budget hotel near the railway station. 1000 rupees for 4 people, 'suite', isn't it? After napping for a couple of hours, it was time to get acquainted with the history of Udaipur. So we went to the City Palace and after an hour and a half of walking in and around the palace, we climbed up the stairs to have a look at the scenic lake Pichola.

Window Seat?

View of the city from the top of City Palace.

The lake summoned us towards herself and we couldn't resist so we decided to spend the evening gazing at the sun: setting above the lake.

Something so simple yet so beautiful.

Always face the brighter side.

Sunsets to light up your evenings at Lake Pichola.

In the vicinity of Pichola, you can find a plethora of cafes and restaurants to indulge your taste buds and we surely indulged ours.

Carefree.

It was late when we thought that we should walk back towards the hotel but unlike the Metros, Udaipur is a fairly safe city and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on our way back.

Day 2

Have you ever heard of the island in Udaipur? Nehru Park is an exquisite garden in the middle of Lake Fatehsagar which is another lake in Udaipur.
In the morning, we took an auto-rickshaw, reached Fatehsagar and bought a ticket of the boat that takes you to and fro Nehru Park for a mere 30 bucks! While waiting for our turn to get on the boat, we had our breakfast at one of the restaurants near the lake.

Nehru Park

Lake Fatehsagar

After sitting in the boat, in no time you reach the park. Adorned with beautiful flowers, Nehru park is a treat to the eyes. On top of that, there you may have lunch, overlooking the lake in a canteen that looks like the deck of a ship. It's a perfect picnic spot to go to with your near and dears.

Contemplating Life?

This Titanic doesn't sink. You may have to find your Rose though.

Now tell us, do you fancy rope-way rides, city views and some spirituality to go along with it? Well, so do we!
In the evening , we went to the Karni Mata Temple via the signature Udaipur rope-way.
Let's just not talk about it, we'll simply show it to you!

Jal Mahal from the top of Karni Mata Temple at night.

Lake Pichola at night.

Just leaves you speechless.

For dinner, we went to a traditional restaurant: Santosh Bhojanalaya to have the quintessential Dal Baati Churma.
P. S. They give you unlimited free Dal and Churma.

So it's 12:30 a.m. already, we are sitting on the hotel balcony and here comes an epiphany:
Mount
Abu, was just 160 Kms away from Udaipur!
To be continued...
